SMTP problems!!

Hey all,

I was crusing along just fine, and yesterday about 1pm, SMTP stopped allowing connections to it.

Qmai stat says it's running fine, there are 'some' incoming mail being received, but like 1/10 the normal volume.  

If one of my users tries to send a message, it says the outgoing smtp server doesn't respond.

I tried to telnet to the smtp port right from the box itself, and all I get is the escape charcter, nothing more.

I checked all settings, and everything is running correctly, and I'm getting no errors anywhere.

Anyone have any ideas?

Ahhh, after 24 hours of going crazy, I found the answer.

Apparently the DNS servers at the datacenter I was in were not working correctly, causing the problem all along.

Once they fixed that, everything went back to normal.
