unable to login to qmailadmin

Recent installation of a fresh toaster but I think at some point the qmailadmin stopped working.  I am able to login to the main panel but if I select qmailadmin it says invalid password.

So qmailadmin must be using some different way to authenticate the the main page does.  I just do not know where to locate logs for qmailadmin login attempts.

Any suggestions on where to begin tracing this problem?  I have a feeling it might be due to mysql login that may have been changed or removed but the main page and vpopmail and everything else seems to be getting mysql authentications completed.

after all the complicated attempted solutions I all did was run toaster_setup again for mail admin and it recompiled it for the changed mysql password it seems.  I had a felling it was related to mysql login information and toaster setup recreated the cgi binary to use the right authentication info.  I should have tried that first.
