Export to tinydns problem

On SuSE Linux 10.2 and DJBDNS-1.05

1. What's the "croak" line in the install.pl? I read Matt's FM on setting this up. What else should I read. Changed it to "die" and proceeded
2. The run command gives this error

Global symbol "$UID" requires explicit package name at /etc/nictool-ns1/nt_export_djb.pl line 97.
Execution of /etc/nictool-ns1/nt_export_djb.pl aborted due to compilation errors.

I've done a lot of searches and can find nothing to aid me with this. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. Robert

I've got the same errors on executing install.pl

Don't know what to do.
