hi, since any days I have problems with SMTP service, the error message is:

Is clamd running?

Ummm, is downing, reboot the machine and:

# ps -awx | grep clam
 425  ??  Ss     0:04.29 /usr/local/sbin/clamd
 432  ??  Is     0:00.03 /usr/local/bin/freshclam --

# /usr/local/etc/rc.d/clamav-clamd.sh status
clamav_clamd is running as pid 425.

# date
Fri May 20 10:24:59 CLT 2005

and:
data

test

But, soon it will fall...

and there are no detailed errors in any of the logs?
/var/log/maillog /var/log/mail/smtp/* /var/log/mail/send/* etc. etc.
