How to upgrade a toaster

This tends to be the trickiest thing about toasters, and where most sysadmins have problems. I'm building a new page specifically for it. In the mean time, if you have some insight to contribute towards it (like areas where you've run aground), please post them here.

i don't know if it is correct or not, but it worked for me...

Toaster usually consists of several parts, such as:
1. Upgrade your Pearl
2. MATT:Bundle
3. Install Mail::Toaster
4. Edit config files
5. This is where i just look what applications i need to upgrade (application -v and compare to the current stable) and then do so, for example, apache, or vpopmail, etc.

So, in my case it is not like i upgrade the toaster but rather the parts of which toaster is built of.
